Our 2012 Terroir Run runners helped us to make a contribution to the Slow Food The County Convivium. $5 of each of registration fee (for a total of $380) was donated to the convivium to assist them with their various programs that support sustainable agriculture and food culture. Slow Food the County helped to make our day possible by providing much need volunteer assistance along the run. A big thanks to all of the volunteers for your help that day and for the work you are doing in Prince Edward County!

The Terroir Run was founded on our philosophy that a healthy lifestyle is all about balance. Eating fresh, seasonal food. Drinking local wines and beers. Enjoying the great outdoors. Getting daily exercise. Spending time with family and friends.
Our longterm goals are to develop Terroir Runs across the globe. Anywhere there is a community that respects and celebrates local food and drink – we’ll be there! As we grow, we’ll be looking for partners to help us. For us, an obvious place to start is in communities with Slow Food conviviums. Slow Food is an idea, a way of living and a way of eating. It is a global grassroots association that links the pleasure of food with a commitment to community and the environment.
Starting in 2012, all of our Terroir Runs will donate $5 from each registration to the Slow Food convivium in that community. As our first run is in Prince Edward County – we’ll be supporting Slow Food the County. Lucky for us – their supporting our run with volunteers! We’ll all be celebrating the good, clean and fair on Sunday, May 27th. Come join us!
It’s official – tickets for “Terroir – a County wine celebration” are now available! Make May 26th & 27th a complete wine getaway to beautiful Prince Edward County. Take in the Terroir event on the Saturday (noon to 8pm), enjoy a wine and culinary class at From the Farm Cooking School and on Sunday burn some calories (before you eat and drink again) with us!

Our good friend Cynthia Peters – Chef/Owner of From the Farm Cooking School is partnering with wine guru Billy Munnelly (Billy’s Best Bottles) to present “Sip & Savour Prince Edward County” on Saturday, May 26th. We encourage those runners joining us May 27th to make the weekend of our run and enjoy a wine and culinary escape to “the County”.

We’ve been receiving lots of requests for more details about our 2nd annual Terroir Run and we’re excited to release the details of this year’s event. We’ve decided to host our 10.9km fun run during the weekend that celebrates ‘terroir’ in PEC. The Prince Edward County Winegrowers host their annual Terroir County Wine Celebration on Saturday, May 26th. Our run will take place on Sunday, May 27th. The route will remain the same as 2011 – starting off at The Old Third Vineyard and run along Closson Road past Closson Chase Winery, Lacey Estates Vineyard & Winery, Lift Haus Winery, The Grange of Prince Edward Vineyards & Estate Winery, Hinterland Wine Co., down Benway Road to Greer Road and west on Greer Road past Casa-Dea Estates Winery, Rosehall Run Winery and finishing off at Norman Hardie Winery.
Our runners will enjoy some great County hospitality, fabulous fresh, seasonal fare and County wines and beers post race. Winemaker Norman Hardie and his team will be serving up woodfired pizza, Chef Cynthia Peters of From the Farm Cooking School wil be serving up salad and we have some more treats in store. In addition to lots of water to hydrate, wines from each of the wineries we pass will be served as well as a range of other County beverages.
For those runners and their spouses that want to make it a complete vacation to the County – consider booking a Terroir Weekend package! Packages will include 2 nights accommodation, 2 tickets to the Terroir County Wine Festival and 2 registrations to our Terroir Run (packages with one registration be also be available).
