Taking a pause and reflecting on 2023

We love our community and the runners who come out every year to have some fun and raise some funds to support The ROC (Recreation Outreach Centre Youth Services). Our collective community raised $5000 for The ROC and those funds helped to support the 30-45 youth they serve every day with their hot lunch program.

We had 75 runners and 25 of their friends and family members join us for our 2023 run. Our run partners at Rosehall Run Vineyards kicked off the run with a “pop” of Pixie sparkling wine. Sherry, Saxe, and the crew from Karlo Estates Winery satiated our thirst along with some rocking tunes.

Trail Estate Winery served up some of the County’s finest water and wine. The Grange of Prince Edward Vineyards and Estate Winery and Closson Chase Winery quenched our thirst along the route too. At the finish line, we were welcomed by the team from decanterPEC who were serving up refreshments from The County Cider Co., Parsons Brewing Company, and wines from aforementioned wineries, as well as, from Casa Dea Estates Winery, Hinterland Wine Co., Lacey Estates Vineyard, and Broken Stone Winery.

The crew at The Old Third Vineyard prepared a delicious meal including a post-run snack of white bean hummus served on Humble Bread. Jen and her crew made up a batch of delectable iced Pluck Tea too!

Our runners showed up in fine form and costumes with the Zest Kitchen Shop prize going to the gals who “Run 4 Wine”

We have been putting on the Terroir Run since 2011 and with exceptions for 2020 and 2021 (due to the pandemic) have found the time to contribute back to our community while creating some fun with this event that we run “off the sides of our desks”. With significant commitments in our day jobs (including Rebecca hosting the 2nd Taste of Place Summit in Montreal, QC on May 27 & 28 with her team at the Culinary Tourism Alliance) and following our son’s active lacrosse schedules, we have decided to take a pause this year.

We’ll be back in 2025 and the run may look slightly different – it’s always good to mix things up and use a pause to refresh. We’ll be sure to keep you posted and share updates on our Instagram @TerroirRun. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out with questions, suggestions, and ideas to our email.

Stay happy and healthy, and if you’re in a position to – please donate to The ROC so that they can keep on doing the great work that they do to support youth in Prince Edward County!
