Hello keen runners and dear friends,
It’s hard to believe it’s February 2013 already! We’ve had many folks reach out to us recently to ask “When’s your run this year?” and “When can we register”? We’ve got great news – it’s May 26th and registration is now live on Eztix!
We listened to our runners feedback and we’ve decided to start our run an hour earlier this year – we’ll start at 9am instead of 10am. Runners will join us at our starting point The Old Third Vineyard for registration starting at 8am. Bruno and Jens will kick off our run with a BANG (a bird banger bang that is) at 9am! We’ll run along Closson Road stopping at Closson Chase Winery and The Grange of Prince Edward Vineyards and Estates Winery to hydrate – water that is folks, not wine, that comes at the end of the run! We’ll head down Benway Road to Greer Road where the enthusiastic team from Karlo Estates Winery will wet your whistle (with water) and then along Greer Road to circle the tractor at Rosehall Run Vineyards and finish off at Norman Hardie Winery and Vineyard.
Runners will celebrate their accomplishment of completing the 11km run in their personal best time (this by the way is not a timed race, its a FUN RUN) by enjoying wine from County wineries including Hinterland Wine Company, Lacey Estates Winery, Lift Haus Winery, Casa-Dea Estates Winery and more. You’ll also enjoy libations from Barley Days Brewery and the County Cider Company. The team at Norman Hardie Winery will cook up delicious wood-fired pizzas and Chef Cynthia Peters of From the Farm Cooking School will serve up a fresh County spring salad featuring ingredients from Vicki’s Veggies.
Our good friends from Sandbanks Vacations will shuttle runners back to their cars at The Old Third Vineyard after they’ve enjoyed their lunch. Note that runners can also bring their friends and family who can cheer them along the route and enjoy the fabulous finish line fare – there are Companion lunch tickets available online.
We are happy to have Slow Food The County as our charity of choice again this year. $5 of each runners registration will be donated to the PEC convivium. We’ve aslo enabled additional donations to Slow Food Prince Edward County on our registration form. We encourage everyone to support their efforts in educating about good, clean and fair food!
